Tunbridge Wells Mayor supports ellenor

News   •   May 28, 2015 15:51 BST

ellenor is being supported by the new Tunbridge Wells Mayor.

Throughout 2015/16 The Worshipful the Mayor Cllr David Elliott will be raising funds and awareness of ellenor - the only charity in the county to provide hospice care for seriously ill people of all ages.

He said: "It was important for the Mayoress and I to support a charity that hadn’t been adopted by Mayors previously, and I have always been interested in supporting young people in some way. I’m looking forward to supporting ellenor over the next year, raising funds and their profile within the borough"

In Tunbridge Wells, ellenor provides care to seriously ill children in the comfort of their home, preventing trips to hospital so the family can stay together.

This includes pain and symptom relief, end of life care, respite care, bereavement support and emotional and spiritual care, as well as play and music therapy.

Rachel Holweger, Director of Fundraising, said: We are absolutely delighted to be the Mayor of Tunbridge Well’s charity this year. ellenor provides vital end of life, oncology and respite care in the home for very sick children and is the only charity to do so in West Kent.

“We currently care for over 150 children in Kent but we know there are many more who need our help. The profile and money raised from this support will make an enormous difference to help us reach more children.”
