There are only a few days left to enter ellenor’s exciting Accumulator Challenge! Businesses which contact the charity’s fundraising team before next Monday will be given a crisp £50, which they then have three months to grow into as much as possible to support families facing terminal illness.
Companies which sign up to this exciting challenge will be up against firms including Happy Feet, Sankey’s, the Tunbridge Wells branch of Handelsbanken, Berwick Devoil Healthcare Limited (BDHL), Climbing Goats, CooperBurnett and Baxall Construction.
“Like many businesses, we are often asked to help charities raise much needed funds,” says Matthew Sankey. “These normally find their way into my inbox in the form of a cut and paste email requesting a raffle prize. It’s so refreshing to be introduced to a method of fundraising that not only appeals to my entrepreneurial nature but is also going to fuel that bit inside that doesn’t like to be beaten.”
If one of the companies raises £360 – this could pay for ten sessions of respite for one of ellenor’s young patients.
Among those who benefit from ellenor’s respite care is Norma Carman from Pembury. She is the main carer to her teenage grandson, Charlie, who has Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome, a rare form of epilepsy. The respite provided by ellenor means that Norma can spend precious time with her daughter.
“Spending Saturdays with my daughter is extremely valuable to me. I treasure that time. I look back and think that I missed out spending time with my husband during this retirement – so I don’t want to feel the same about the opportunity to spend time with Maria,” says Norma. “I really don’t know what I would have done without ellenor’s respite care.”
The ellenor Accumulator Challenge begins on 11 July and will run for three months.
“Getting your company involved with the Accumulator Challenge is a fantastic way to engage staff and inject a little fun into the workplace,” says Kate Barnes, Area Fundraiser at ellenor. “We will be there to support businesses along the way. However you decide to complete the challenge, this is an ideal opportunity to encourage teamwork, develop creativity, boost morale among staff and engage with your local community.”
An awards ceremony will be held at the end of the challenge – where the companies which have raised the most money and those which have been particularly creative with their fundraising ideas will be recognised.
