Young patients supported by ellenor Children’s Hospice Care enjoyed a fun and friendly Family Drop In session at The New Beacon school in Sevenoaks on Wednesday 24 August, which was kindly arranged by one of the charity’s Ambassadors, Gill Chadbon. The event was an ideal opportunity for ellenor families across South West Kent to meet other families and relax in a safe environment.
Among those who attended was Jayden and his Mum, Danielle Farley.
“It’s great for Jayden to spend some time around other people,” she said. “He’s really enjoyed the different sensory experiences this morning and I’ve appreciated the opportunity to have a chat and meet some other ellenor families.”
ellenor provides children’s hospice at home care to children across South West Kent, North Kent and the London Borough of Bexley – providing care and support, including respite care, into children’s own homes. ellenor currently supports 150 seriously ill children each year – however, more than double that number need its help and demand for the charity’s service is increasing every day.
While the children enjoyed playing, carers relaxed with a cup of coffee and a slice of delicious chocolate cake, kindly donated by Free Cakes For Kids Tonbridge.
“It’s been great to offer a fun Family Drop In in South West Kent,” says Tina Humphreys, Respite Care Coordinator at ellenor. “Huge thanks to The New Beacon School for opening its doors for us and to Gill for making it all happen!”
