Members of Gravesend Lions Club visited ellenor Gravesend last week to present a cheque for just over £4,000 – bringing the amount the group has donated to ellenor this year to £11,000 – a big boost to the charity, which supports families facing terminal illness.
The group enjoyed dinner in the dining room at the hospice and appreciated the opportunity to see, first hand, the facilities at ellenor Gravesend – including what is on offer for Day Therapy patients, the hairdressing salon, complementary therapy rooms and state-of-the-art bathrooms. They also felt that the accommodation available at the hospice, where families are able to stay, close to loved ones, was very useful.
Gravesend Lions Club members also enjoyed hearing more about what ellenor does in the community – where it provides 90% of its care.
The Lions Club have been a huge supporter of ellenor over the past three decades; in the beginning the organisation was instrumental in helping the charity to fund the building of the hospice.
“We are extremely grateful to Gravesend Lions Club for their ongoing support and commitment to ellenor,” says Linda Trew, Head of Community at ellenor. “Members have been fundraising for us for over 30 years now through a variety of different events and their support continues to be vital, allowing us to continue providing care to families facing terminal illness.”
